چکیده

High-flow arteriovenous malformations (AVMS) of the mandible, though rare, may cause death from intractable bleeding, usually following a dental extraction [1-3]. Treatment is difficult, as evidenced by the large range of therapies that have been proposed. These include repetitive embolization, embolization andjor surgical resection, and curettage [1 , 4-6). Nevertheless, some authors have described successful AVM embolization with the use of superselective catheterization in direct proximity to the nidus [3, 7, 8]. We report two cases in which arterial embolization was followed by percutaneous transmandibular occlusion of the venous drainage, producing complete disappearance of the AVM with osseous reconstruction.

Huge Arteriovenous Malformation of Upper Lip- A Case Report

Introduction: Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are uncommon vascular lesions that can arise in any part of the body. Case Report: In this case study, we presented a huge AVM of the upper lip in a 70-year-old man that he noticed since 5years ago with slow growth in this period. Computed tomography angiography revealed a large AVM with feeders from the right...

Treatment of dural arteriovenous malformations involving the superior sagittal sinus.

We report the diagnosis and treatment of seven dural arteriovenous malformations involving the superior sagittal sinus. The most common presenting symptom was headache, although two patients presented with hemorrhage. Embolization alone effected a complete cure in four patients, while a combination of embolization and surgery was used in the remaining three patients. The first of these had intr...

Correlation of pressure measurements with angiographic characteristics predisposing to hemorrhage and steal in cerebral arteriovenous malformations.

PURPOSE To determine whether there is a physiologic explanation for the predisposition of patients with certain angiographic characteristics to symptoms of hemorrhage and steal. METHODS Superselective transcatheter feeding arterial pressure and mean arterial pressure measurements were obtained before embolotherapy in 32 patients with cerebral arteriovenous malformations. Pressures were correl...

Embolization of high-flow craniofacial vascular malformations with onyx.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Various techniques and materials have been used for the endovascular treatment of craniofacial high-flow arteriovenous vascular malformations, because their rarity precludes standardization of their treatment. The aim of this retrospective review is to assess Onyx as the primary embolic agent in the treatment of these vascular malformations. MATERIALS AND METHODS Six pa...

Interventional neuroradiology.

Interventional neuroradiology continues to play an increasing role in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms, the treatment of vasospasm related to subarachnoid hemorrhage, and the treatment of vascular malformations and fistulae of the brain and spine. New techniques for aneurysm embolization are examined, such as detachable coil systems, as are reports of intracranial angioplasty and superse...
